My father dealt with the discomfort by falling asleep.

I'd forgotten about all the free love, 1970's sex stuff. I'd chosen it for all its warm, fuzzy, family overcomes difficulty and differences stuff.

Let's meet for coffee in Greenfield, MA

Barts is one good place to meet with an old friend.

It's a friendly, local coffee shop with great ice cream and other good food. There's Wi-Fi and the work of local artists on the walls. It's right in the middle of Greenfield. In view of the main bus stop in town, it's an ideal meeting place.

In defense of my vice: dark malty beers

I worry about my potential as an alcoholic. I guess I'm not but I can be a damn sloppy drunk. One thing that restrains this vice is my wallet. I'm cheap but the beer I like ain't.

Weight lifting keeps me in shape in theory

I read about it.

I believe building muscle and bone mass are vital to a long healthy life. I always thought it would be cool if I could get big in a muscular kind of way but have not been inclined to do what it takes to get toned even - at least not very consistently.

My advice

Take my advice, I'm not using it.
